Subject: gunshoti would just like to say how ridiculous i think your reply to the gunshot email was. you obviously have no idea how hard Amanda Winn Lee strives to reproduce the Evangelion script in its original format. The ‘slap’ sound did not fit, and was rightly altered. and i am fully aware of Hideaki Annos attempt to confuse the watcher, but, some things just do not fit.
Also, you can see what a great job was done when you compare the DBZ english dub to the eva english dub, this again shows how Amanda Winn Lee is an above average translator and director.
I wonder, is it even worth having an opinion these days?
My favorite part of this email, “Amanda Winn Lee is an above average translator and director”. This is not only funny because she is NOT a translator, but her knowledge of the language is limited to the point that she foolishly believes that there is no word in the Japanese language for “I”. Which is quite contrary to the truth, as there exists both watashi/watakushi and boku, and certainly another term for “I” in existance in the language, but I cannot say more, given my limited education of the language, which humourously enough is significantly more than someone who gets paid to adapt works from said language.
This time around, I’m not bothering to answer this publicly. I’ve already stated my opinion on the subject. Believe what you want, listen to me if you want, have an open mind, search for the truth. You’ll find it eventually, just as I have. I speak from experience.
