Evangelion “E:Project” Esports line announced

By The Eva Monkey on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020

Every day, it seems like there’s some new Evangelion thing, sometimes it’s a new figure or model, sometimes it’s Evangelion needlessly slapped onto something, like instant ramen, or even an entire promotional campaign for a major car line. Occasionally it’s something that really has nothing to do with Evangelion, but well, why not? You needed a pair of wireless earbuds, and you might as well accessorize them with your favorite cartoon.

The latest in Evangelion wares that no one asked for, but some may actually really want is Evangelion E:PROJECT, an Evangelion-themed esports line by Jammy. I’ve never heard of them before, but among their licenses you may be familiar with is MTV, which includes other brands like Jackass and Beavis and Butt-Head. Another is Rody, makers of those horses that kids can hop and bounce on. By the way, there are Evangelion versions of those too.

According to Jammy, they plan to develop professional, high-performance items to give players a competitive edge, and contribute to and grow the esports scene through players’ enthusiasm with the Evangelion brand.

The current line up includes a headset, keyboard, keypad, two PC cases, pc fans, and a t-shirt. It was pointed out to me by @IfyNwadiwe on Twitter that one of the two cases is actually a SPEC-OMEGA (or SPEC-ALPHA) by Corsair. It doesn’t surprise me terribly that a company with no history of making PC components would source from other companies and simply apply a brand like Evangelion. If you recognize any of the other items, drop me a line.
